2/24
Closing Session : 7 June
The morning of 7 June was dedicated to several experiences. CEO of LTG Cargo Eglė Šimė gave a tailor-made presentation of the adaption of the Baltic countries to the new rules applicable to projects such as Freerail and Rail Baltica. LTG Cargo is a subsidiary of Lithuanian Railways. The transition from the SMGS system to the CIM Uniform Rules is another challenging step where CIT can provide a valuable contribution.
The Berner Tage 2024 then welcomed the Deputy Secretary-General of the Economic Commission for Europe (UNECE) Dmitry Mariyasin, who presented the recent steps of the new UN Convention on contracts for the international carriage of goods by rail as an opting-in instrument for the global development of rail freight carriage.
Following on from that, Josef Doppelbauer, Executive Director of the European Union Agency for Railways (ERA), presented the ERA mission drawing on both general and local examples. The highlights of his presentation were further detailed in a dedicated panel discussion with Wolfgang Küpper from OTIF and Hinne Groot from the Transport Ministry of the Netherlands.
The final presentation on this second day was the by Audry Poelaert from the Dutch Railways (NS) on cybersecurity and data protection, with a pragmatic vision of the potential risks and solutions.
After a brief presentation of the results of the interactive survey (see next page of this issue), Maria Sack and Maria Urbanska then closed this 11th edition.
