26th CIV Committee hosted by NS in Utrecht
During the meeting, participants received new information concerning European-level initiatives, in particular the proposal for a Regulation on passenger rights in the context of multimodal journeys (“MM PRR”).
The focus this year was also on deciding improvements to the Agreement on Journey Continuation (AJC).
Inter alia, a new structure of Appendix 3 with each carrier’s conditions of journey continuation was approved by the CIV Committee. In addition, the further digitalization of the AJC processes were explained. This step into a digital environment will be developed by UIC using eTCD.
With the support of CER, CIT was able to attract new carriers to join the AJC during the past year, such as HZPP, PKP IC, LTG LINK, Eurostar (including Eurostar International Limited and THI Factory) and GYSEV.
The CIV Committee also approved new ticketing developments which will be implemented in MIRT.
The new products in passenger traffic will take effect on 15 December this year.
Last but not least, the CIV Committee renewed Oliver Hirschfeld (DB) for a further 3-year mandate as Chair of the CIV Working Group. All members of the CIV Committee look forward to another 3 years of fruitful collaboration with Mr Hirschfeld in the passenger section of CIT.
The CIT would like to thank NS and especially Willem Maarten Van Luijn for their commitment and for organising the meeting of the CIV Committee in Utrecht.
The next CIV Committee will take place in Copenhagen on 23 September 2025.
